Screening Info

Screening tests help find some types of cancer early, before you have any symptoms. Some screening tests can even help prevent cancer by finding changes in your body that would become cancerous if they were left untreated.

Talk to your doctor to learn more about your risk of cancer and what screening tests are available to help find cancer early. Your doctor will know what screening tests you need or if you are at higher risk for developing cancer and need to be screened earlier or more often. The Get Screened Campaign focuses on Cervical, Colon and Breast Cancer Screening because Nova Scotia has implemented provincial screening programs for these cancers. If you have questions about screening for other cancers please contact your doctor or the Canadian Cancer Society’s Cancer Information Service.
